Safeguarding

At Morley Place Academy, the welfare of all our pupils is of great importance to us, and we hope parents are confident about their children’s health and safety while in our academy.

Ensuring the safety of all pupils is our highest priority at Morley Place Academy. We have a robust set of safeguarding measures in place, starting with a rigorous recruitment process that includes enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) checks for all staff and volunteers. Our staff receive regular, comprehensive safeguarding training to help them recognise and respond to any signs of abuse or neglect. We maintain a vigilant visitor management system, ensuring all visitors are signed in, wear a badge, and are escorted while on school grounds.

Furthermore, we encourage an open culture where pupils feel comfortable sharing any concerns with a trusted adult. Our designated safeguarding leads are always available to manage and report concerns, working closely with external agencies to ensure children receive the support they need. We also actively promote online safety through our curriculum and school policies to protect pupils from digital risks.

If you have any concerns about the welfare or safety of any child in our academy, the Safeguarding Lead is Mr Duncan. Our Deputy Safeguarding Lead is Miss Pratt. They can be contacted through the academy office or on the playground at the beginning and end of the day, along with other members of the leadership team.

We will always try to share any concerns we have with parents. However, there are times when we are legally obliged to share our concerns with other agencies, without first speaking to parents, or without the consent of parents. The safety and protection of our pupils are our most important concern, and we wish to reassure you that any sharing of information is done with the children’s best interests at heart.

If you have a safeguarding concern, please report it to a member of our safeguarding team, or you can report it here.

Any allegations or disclosure involving a member of staff, parent, a child’s foster carer or volunteer at this school MUST be reported directly to the Head of Academy without delay. If the allegation involves the Head of Academy, it must be reported without delay to our Chair of Governors, Mr David Longley. He can be contacted via the main office on 01709 302340

Further documentation detailing guidance & support (including our safeguarding policy and relevant DfE publications) is available on our safeguarding notice board in reception, upon request from our office team and via the links provided below. You will also find links to other websites and organisations that may be of help.

Our thanks for supporting the safeguarding of children at our academy
